Welcome to the Vista 4 30 blog. As the cryptic title suggests this is a blog on my experiences of using Microsoft’s new Windows Vista operating system for 30 days and 30 nights. I’m warning you now of my huge amount of prejudice towards Microsoft and all their products. But for the purpose of this test I will try to be as open minded as humanly possible.

I have recently made the jump to GNU/Linux (to be specific, openSUSE) from Mac OS X*. My reasoning was I just couldn’t put up with OS X working extremely poorly on my hardware (a 1GHz eMac). I made the switch extremely smoothly as I had been using various distributions of Linux for some time simultaneously with OS X. So far I have been blown away by the speed, and features of my new KDE desktop, and don’t see myself switching back any time soon.

I hope you enjoy reading this blog.

*please let it be known that I am not a completely devout user of Linux. My eMac is still sitting on my desk, albeit in the corner, playing my music, and checking my email. I just couldn’t give up Mail.app after I honed my junk filter to perfection. Sorry.
